Because I started this thread, I'll post first so others will get the "drift".

Here goes...this weekend my husband and I are working out in the yard putting up a retaining wall in the backyard and repairing our deck railing.  If we do not paint the railing this weekend, that will get done the next weekend!  We are in Georgia (USA), so it is hot (90's F) and humid (100%) right now.  I usually loose about 3-4 pounds each time I work in the yard - sweat a lot;  excuse me - women "perspire", I believe!!!!!!  We have 2/3 of an acre and there is always some sort of yard work to do.  A lot of raking leaves and pine needles and cutting/shaping of bushes.  Georgia is a beautiful state.  Very green and loads of flowers everywhere you look.  A lot of dogwood trees, azalea bushes, myrtle trees, etc.  I'm from California (USA), so this weather is hard for me to get adjusted to.

My two dogs (both shelties) usually hang out under the deck where it is cool and watch us work - a lot of help they are!  HA!  They keep the cats and squirrels out of the yard!

We drink a lot of gatorade - sport drink.  That really quenches your thirst when you have been working in hot/humid weather.  Then we get into the hot tub - which now has cool water in it.  That feels really good - just can't stay in there too long.

So.  What are you up to?   smile

Well this weekend isn't necessarily a typical one for me.  I love Friday evenings, usually open a bottle of wine in front of the TV if we aren't going out.

We are off to see my sister in London for the day tomorrow, probably do a couple of museums etc.

The weather forecast is hopeful for a dry day in London.  But I won't hold my breath.  It's been shockingly awful recently here in the UK.  Rain, rain and more rain.  Still August is often a nice month...  Still the garden is enjoying it!  We only have a very tiny matchbox for a garden and don't have any grass.  It doesn't need too much work - just watering flowers (the weather has been doing that for us) and some deweeding.

Sunday will be spent doing housework etc and then chilling out Sunday afternoon.  Back to reality on Monday.  Why aren't weekends ever long enough?biggrin

Every weekend is different for me depending if I'm working or not. I'm working until 2.30AM tonight cry Tomorrow I'll relax. I'll watch some of the tennis & maybe meet friends for lunch if any of them are around. Tomorrow night I'll chill in front of the TV & maybe drink a bottle of wine that a friend gave me.
Sunday will envolve a long lie in & then Sunday evening I'll head up to my local for a few pints where a friend will be playing music. I'm not back in until 11PM Monday night so I might do some housework then smile

Yes, Scottie, Shelties are from the Shetland Islands, which is part of Scotland.  I have a Tri-colored male named Caesar (mostly black, white collar, and brown eyebrows).  My female is named Brook, she is sable - reddish brown (looks like Lassie) with a white collar.  She's the "licker"!  They are very loving dogs.  Over the years I have owned 5.  As they get old and pass on, I wait a few months and then buy a new puppy.  I love the breed.

This week I am in San Diego, California working.  I plan to go to the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla, which is not far from San Diego.  I really like to go to museums, zoo's, and aquariums.  We have a rather nice aquarium in Atlanta now.

When I return, I will get back to the yard work if it does not thunderstorm.  Georgia has had very wet weather here lately - lots of rain.  Like London, Jules!  It's hot however, as it is very humid here, not cool like London, I imagine.  If it does thunderstorm, I will paint the upstairs bathroom!  I will sleep in on Sunday.  Hubby & I usually eat out Sunday evening.  We try a lot of different restaurants in the area.  biggrin

The 22nd we saw the latest Harry Potter flick at an IMAX theatre!  Really good, as the rest of the Harry Potter flicks have been - in my opinion.

It rained all weekend - no outdoor work done, just hung around inside and watch scarey movies! yawn

Very wet weather is something of an understatement in the UK right now. We are being flooded out! It hasn't affected me personally, but friends who live 3 miles down the road are preparing themselves for floods. They have sandbags and wooden pallets and police and firebrigrade calling on them to check them out.weirdfaceIt's still raining and set to get worse.

I'm just going for a swim - to work - this morning. I have a pass a small brook. The water was high on Friday, near to the top, we'll see what it's like in a moment.

My cat is very uspet right now, keeps meowing at me and looking at the cat flat and me and pacing up and down.  He wants me to turn the weather off.cry

So to get back on topic. Most of this weekend has been washed out, but we did make it over to friends on Saturday night on a grim and miserable night. To think they'd considered doing a BBQ. Yesterday was quite nice, but we didn't plan to go anywhere because we were expecting rain and we were just waiting for it to arrive. It arrived during the night.weirdface

Whoa - I saw the news regarding the flooding and it looks very familiar.  We have that here from time-to-time.

My dogs got showered on yesterday!  It down poured for about 10 minutes - and they were outside...they were not pleased!  They are sort of like cats regarding getting wet! bleh

I will be going to the Police concert this coming Saturday and then flying for work on Sunday - big training day on Monday in Philadelphia.  My travel schedule for June thru August is about 14 days out each month.  I am not home much these days.

I'm not getting my deck painted!  Oh well, I have the rest of August to complete that work.

Last Saturday we looked at houses for sale with a pool. We are thinking of  moving to a home with a pool in the next 4-6 weeks.

Sunday we lay in bed, made love, and dined out!

Lovely weekend...

We purchased a home with a pool!  We move in 9 days!

Mid month we are off to Honolulu for a lovely week on the beach.  Couldn't afford a room, just the flight.  Just kidding!
