Sadly I think this list shows music has gone down the dumper in recent years.
I reckon of the 20 or so songs I like, most of them were around 2004 (Razorlight, Libertines, Green Day, Gorillaz, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Streets, Outkast, White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys).
I still don't understand the Amy Winehouse thing. I have yet to meet anyone who has bought the record or actually likes her, yet here she is again topping a list. She must have a lot of mates in the media.
These are 100 songs that define the decade. It is not a critics list, and not strictly a hit list; rather its one of tunes you find yourself humming whether you approve of them or not, the universal songs that infiltrated popular culture and provided a soundtrack to our lives.

Ah you forgot to mention another 2004 classic ArrGee........... Toxic by Britney Spears........ LOL That list is mostly rubbish. I think I'd even struggle to pick 20 I like. A quick scroll down I got to 15. The Killers All these things should be on the list. I'd consider that as the best song this decade. Also No Bruce Springsteen. Any song off his last 2 albums is a million times better than most of that list.

I used to work with people who like Amy Winehouse. I could never discuss music with them. If the subject came up I just wouldn't join in. They probably thought I wasn't interested! They like Leona Lewis as well
00s stuff I like: Arctic Monkeys, The Kaiserchiefs, Razorlight, the Zutons, Elbow (who have actually been around a while, but only just getting fame), the Killers, Franz Ferdinand, White Stripes, White Lies...
Looking at that list, the only other ones worthy: Snow Patrol, Strokes, Robbie Williams (I know you don't agree ArrGee), Coldplay and of course U2 - but it isn't even a 00s song???

2020 started better of course with Trash Glam Baby
mmm, not so sure about that. However Passing Through, Heres A Postcard and Monster Monkeys are in my top 3 of 2020, with She Said No, Sweet Thing and Get a Grip in the top 10.
