I went to see REM in Hyde Park yesterday (anyone else there?).
They were absolutely superb, the only thing was I couldn't see anything not even the screen too much. There was a gold circle, and you only had to pay £5 extra for it. But we only found out about this too late and couldn't get an upgrade. The gold circle was the same as the Live8 one so quite large. We managed to get a spot close to the barrier of the circle but couldn't see and moved back. At first the view was good until a couple of 6ft men decided to stand in front of me and it was too tightly packed to move anywhere. There were about 2-3 songs I didn't know (I haven't yet got all of their albums but am working on it).
They were supported by Idlewild, Jonathan Rice and Feeder. Feeder were by far the best.
I'd go again but get tickets for the gold circle!
On the security what a change from Live8! For obvious reasons. I commented that it was rather slack at Live8,we were just having a laugh with the security guy then and he didn't check well at all! This time they were very thorough. The police presence was extremely noticeable too.
It felt strange being back in Hyde Park just 2 weeks later but with this horrible knowledge inbetween
Thanks Rita. I've heard about this. I'll listen in if I'm back in time - back to London again on Saturday. Not for a gig for a change though just visiting my sister
