This is a really good article and the writer is forthright in praise for Gary and the Rats. Maybe Simon can give the kids some drumming and percussion lessons LOL.

Just what do you tell 7-9 year olds about being in a famous rock band in the seventies that they might understand!!

PS - Confused about GR's name. Is it Gary,Garry, or Garrick. I seem to remember he was always called Gary during the Rats heyday .

Noel,

Don't think I've ever seen any official Rats stuff that hasn't said 'Garry', with the double R being logical if full name is Garrick.

Wold hazard a guess that 'Gary' references were only ever in lazily researched articles.

It has been on the Rats website for days. This Sunday, Simon is due to do an interview with a radio station.

And a few other items on here:

They are year 7-9 making them 11-14.

It is Garrick.

Many thanks Suss, I had fixed-up that interview but I had not heard it.

Simon Crowe's interview with the Cornish radio station was very good. Its the first time I have ever heard Simon speak, and he sounds really articulate and down to earth.

Don't think the young interviewer was too clued up but hey...

Hope the interview with Leisure FM 107.4 [East Brentwood, Essex, radio enthusiasts] will be posted also.

Thanks to Suss and BRT  for that.

Simon said in the interview that the Rats are recording new material and updating some of the old Boomtown Rats songs, so we have it straight from the horses mouth as it were.

When this will see the light of day is another matter but I'd imagine most Rats fans would buy any new material the  band comes up with.

I would buy a Rats album of reworks.
Ideally on vinyl.
