What sports do people just not 'get'? The sports I personally have never taken a liking or interest in are.....
Golf- boring, tedious and pointless. Any badly dressed to boot.
Snooker- Boring, dull and sleep inducing. Not a real sport.
Horse Racing- never been interested.
American Football- Totally perplexing and I've never worked out the rules or felt that I wanted to.
Basketball- What's the point, you can't really tackle and the just score too often.
Formula One- Cars going around in circles, accompanied by that relentless noise and excitable commentators. Never gotten this either.
Darts- Only sport that combines alcohol and 'sport'. Not a real sport (Number 2) I mean, at least break a minimal sweat.
The sport I like is like most is football, and then rugby, cricket, athletics. I know some people just have no interest in any sports, which is fine, and equally some may be a bit offended because I dissed a sport they like, but as in the case with music some things you just get and some things you just cannot fathom.
I'm certain I'll come up with more sports I dislike, but the ones I've mentioned always seem to annoy me when they come on the tv or radio.

Football, Hurling and Gaelic Football are the only spectator sports I give a lot of attention to and support a team. I enjoy watching tennis, especially when Andy Murray gets a good hiding. Ice Hockey is about the only US sport I can watch, but I don't really follow it. I like to play Golf and Snooker but see them as pastimes rather than full on sports, but will watch the golf majors. Likewise I enjoy playing Badminton, Table Tennis and Volleyball but would never watch it. I enjoy driving go-karts, but tend to only switch on TV at end of motor racing just to check who won. I don't mind watching the odd Boxing fight, but would never participate. I also enjoy skiing, but again it is a pastime rather than a sport for me.
Rugby seems totally pointless to me, and Cricket bores me senseless. Track athletics is good, but many of the field events are total tosh, like the hop skip & jump and the pole vault. As for swimming and cycling as sports (I do cycle and swim and enjoy them without racing) they just seem to contrive events. Its like athletics having 100m hopping and backward running. I don't see anything with animals involved as sports. In my opinion, ice skating and gymnastics ain't sports. And if they are so is ballroom dancing.
Apologies for dissing all those sports you like! Certain tennis is a really good sport which I forgot to put on my 'good sports' list.
Maybe its not too late but I'd like to learn to ski. It seems like good fun, coming down those slopes. Though not necessarily a fan, ice hockey seems quite lively, like hurling on ice.
If I start defending cricket it will be like defending Mondo Bongo or V Deep so I won't even try. One person's idea of boredom is another's idea of fascination.
There must be a scientific way of judging the merits of various sports, giving points for skill, endurance, atleticism, entertainment value etc.
