Will go to a London show if there is one, and could be persuaded to do a trip to Dublin, but it will be as much a matter of when as well as where. I thought the last time I went to Ireland would have been the first and last concert I travelled to outside the M25...

Ticket prices are reasonable (less than 40 euro with fees) in comparison with the other acts. Sting for over 80 euro!!! They'd have to pay me that to see him.

Suspect further gigs will be dictated by ticket sales for the Cork date.

Another good choice would be in Derry -Londonderry, it's the UK City of Culture 2013. I've actually never been there, but as a history buff I'd like to see the famous city walls of Derry.

Devon would be good for Mrs ArrGee and the minature ArrGees, they have lots of kids entertainment things there, by the looks of it. If they don't want to do the gig, they don't have to. Mrs Wes goes to most gigs with him, I believe - so that's how he gets away with it. Not sure about Oz though, whether it's a boys trip?

You have to find a way to sell it . I take Mr Jules with me, so I just have to work on him to come with me most of the time. He does his footy trips, so if I go solo, it's not a problem - but we don't have any minatures.

PS I can't add my Devon vote because I've already voted.

Of my nine lives I've used up 'once in a lifetime', 'could get run over by a bus tomorrow', 'only live once', 'will make it up to you later in year' , 'they might fold after this tour' so I'm approaching the thin ice.

Financially I have been in self imposed denial for about 3 months now in hope a trip or two might be possible. No way I would go for a VIP ticket though - still think that's extortionate, especially when I can fly 12000 miles for the same money.

I'm with Jules though - any more dates and it'll probably break the camel's back/the thin ice/Mrs S patience.

Some nice easy ones around London and the SE would be highly acceptable.

I'm way outside my comfort zone for gigs as is. Until December, I never went to a gig outside my town nor stayed overnight in a hotel post gig. Almost got a nose bleed at Whyteleafe smile . As for the trip home that night, Ranulph Fiennes has nothing on me biggrin .

Had the Devon gig been a week later it would have been an easier sell, as it would be school holidays and I could bring the kids.

When I went to two Wilko Johnson concerts last week, Mrs. ArrGee commented hadn't I'd seen him already? Similarly with the Blackheath and Dublin gigs last year.

I wouldn't even mention Australia, not that I ever thought about it for one second, especially as it's half term. She's not too thrilled with my trip to Monte Carlo next week, and that's for work!

I don't know how suss and Wes do it.

I'd be surprised if this reincarnation doesn't hit London and other UK cities at some point before the year is out. Seems like an awfl lot of trouble to go to only to have one reasonably inaccessible outdoor gig on the mainland.

The UK and Ireland dates are pretty smart. The success of the Isle of Wight festival is not down to them, the Cork gig piggy backs on a bigger event, and the Devon gig is remote enough to sell regardless.

However selling gigs in their own right is anotrher matter. I would have thought that based on the Cork experience something like the Somerset House gigs would have been ideal.

I'm sure they will all see how it goes and then make future plans. The Cork marquee gig is key as that is the only one people will go just for the Rats. I'm discounting the Australia gigs as they won't have any impact on plans closer to home. Well our home, that is.

Personally speaking, I'd love them to do the Electric Proms or the iTunes festivals at the Roundhouse.

So I'm tempted. Can't afford all the family to go due to holiday commitments (we'd already considered and ruled out a festival for this year), would you guys look after me...?

As for a pub there is one between the Travelodge and the field. but even better they are selling proper local brew at the festival.

We did discuss and Mrs. ArrGee was interested especially with Billy Bragg supporting, but one week before school holidays is the biggest issue. would have made it our summer vacation otherwise.

However, it's now ahead of cork due to lack of afternoon flight. No way am i getting a 6am flight.

Wish I had more info. He seems to be in every Australian newspaper even the Mining News(!), but no further info on new song. It does sound a little like the hidden track on How To Compose- the jokey one- perhaps retellingty the Boomtown Rats story, but it's hard to know.

Still I believe one really good new track would speak volumes for the Rats rather than Geldof's tendency to talk about economics He could get it all of his chest in a four minute song and win some people over with his songwriting talents.

Cork aside, the dates aren't ideal for me as they coincide with various family birthdays and anniversaries. I should consult with Wes and Suss on negotiation tactics.

Birmingham and Manchester as each within an hour's car drive of me - yes, I know, very lightweight compared to those utilising planes, trains and ships to get to see them!

However, that's a minimum - really impressed with the IOW performance so may add in another couple and tie in with a city break

I didn't get to Barrow in Furness last Sept as had a long standing DJ engagement, but apart from a couple of private parties where they played I think my run goes right back to Whyteleafe gig (Nov 10).

Suppose I feel like I owe the favour in return since then, plus it's always a good time. Mrs Suss just sighs and requests more Fat Face vouchers, her favourite shop .

I'm the ultimate lightweight. My trip to Dublin at the end of last year was the first time I ever ventured outside the city I lived in to see a gig. But even then it was a easy trip like the one I have to Cork, as getting to/from Ireland is easier than say the Isle of Wight. Even with Hurtwood I had a lot of umming and ahhing before I finally committed.

Geldof said he wanted to play for about 2,000 people and walk home and sleep in his own bed. I have a similar approach.

I've only ever been to a gig once that I've actually walked to. That was Elton John at the Kassam Stadium. Have to say it was a great experience not having to travel and watch them all queuing to get out of car park. No doubt we were home before the rest of them had even left the building. Chances of the Rats playing there? Especially as they've had very few music events

As a teenager, there was a coach co in Oxford who would do gig trips. My sister and I used to do these fairly often. Very easy for us. That all stopped later, disappointingly, so had to figure out trains etc. it wasn't until I started going to see Bob again that I started travelling further afield and stay over night or get on plans and boats. The only other band I've seen outside England is The Stones. Not even U2!!

Of course, being close to and having good transport links with London makes it a nice easy destination to go to gigs without too much thought or planning.

There is a gap in the tour that could be filled with another date in the south east e.g between Cambridge and Norwich. So they could play somewhere else. Hope not though cos I won't get a lift home from Suss from Cambridge.

The only unannounced date I would predict right now is Dublin, but if I had to have an outside bet on it, they could play something like Royal Albert Hall for TCT next year. Maybe not in their own right, but perhaps in a bill of two or three bands from the era (like Noel, Damon and Graham did this year). Certainly enough acts from that era playing live. My first choice for the other two would be Elvis Costello and Squeeze.

Very jealous of the folks going to the gigs; been catching what I can on youtube. Saw the Rats 6 times before I moved to the States but never with the two guitars. Garry always did a terrific job, but always enjoyed listening to any live stuff with Gerry. From what I can hear they sound great and true to those early years. Live album then and now would be great.

Suss, we actually couldn't really hear you properly, guess you must need very powerful voices. We were all singing along and destroying it ourselves anyway. Didn't matter what you sounded like, it was such good fun watching you all get up there and be Geldof. Think Wes got more cheers than BG

Thought you'd ruled yourself out when family trip option arose? Not aware I've got anyone 'booked' into my Mondeo bus so far, but shout if I've overlooked a previous promise.

I'm just keen to help out anyone who might otherwise struggle to get to edge of Dartmoor. As ever, the more genuine fans there the better.

Agree, Suss, happy to help anyone out too. Those travelling alone, or reliant on public transport. Our Yaris bus is a little smaller though.

Can´t make London .Its the father-in-laws 70th birthday that weekend and he is also ill with parkinsons so it might even be his last.Hope you all have a great day and drink a pint or 2 for me.It looks like Hurtwood and IOW are it for me but what great concerts they were.Hope to meet up with you all again soon.
