5,000 is very small for a festival, and looking at gallery, the crowd around the stage at night isn't that big.

A week too early, could have brought the family. Booked the hotel room on the flexible rate, keep my options open...

Bob Geldof said: "The second I heard the name 'Sh@gstock' I knew that was THE festival for The Boomtown Rats. Only later when we agreed and signed contracts did Simon, the Rats drummer, point out it was in fact 'Chagstock', his local summer music fest. Oh well... I will do my best to personally attempt to do everything in my power to have the name revert to my far better original mistake. It's a beautiful part of the world. Billy Bragg is a hero. The Rats are a great band. It will be a pleasure to do the Rat in Devon again."

Boomtown Rats drummer Simon Crowe says he is delighted that the original line-up of the band including Sir Bob Geldof will be headlining this summer's Chagstock festival, just a few miles from his Devon home.

The New Wave pioneers last performed on stage together in 1986. Chagstock is one of just two UK festival dates the band will play this year.

"I'm very excited about it. It is just brilliant to be playing with the guys again and to be doing this show in my local area," says Simon, who lives on the edge of Dartmoor, near Ashburton. "It is amazing to have the prospect of getting up and doing it all over again after all this time."

Simon Ford from Chagstock Festival added: "We are delighted to announce The Boomtown Rats will exclusively headline our main stage at Chagstock.

"They are a classic band with a string of memorable hits. Combined with Billy Bragg's performance immediately before the Boomtown Rats, Chagstock 2013 is shaping up to be our best line up ever - and we still have a number of major artists to announce! We can't wait!"

Booked flexi rate hotel, not ticket yet. Thinking about that. If we do, maybe we can get a taxi together to the venue, if there's no bus going past!

According to the map it is 11 minutes walk from the hotel to the venue.

This one suits me much more than IoW. Flybe fly to Exeter from Dublin and then it's about a ten mile journey approx. It's also fairly near Newton Abbot, and I'd imagine there would be a bus service to the gig from these towns. Even flying to Bristol is a good option, it's about an hour to Exeter/Newton Abbot on the train, and take it from there!

The dates are 19/20 July 2013, a little after the Cork gig.Funny I've always wanted to visit Devon and Cornwall, and this is a good opportunity.
