Chagstock arrival time

Was wondering if those going to Chagstock plan on getting there early or in time just for Billy Bragg and The Rats? To be honest the latter acts are the only ones I think are of any repute so spending the day in a field watching acts I've never heard of does not seem like a good idea.

Have a return Flybe flight to Exeter arriving 2pm on Saturday of gig, and leaving on Sunday night around 8pm. Cost is not bad at 100 euros return flight.Can spend Sunday looking at the Roman ruins and medieval walls of Exeter!

So I think my plan is to get to festival site late in the afternoon, but well in time for Billy Bragg and the Rats.

My plan is to get up early, drag everyone out of bed and stick them in the car. Assuming we get away by 10am (probably later), should be there about 2pm, but by the time we mess around checking in at the hotel and getting in, it should be at least 3pm or more likely 4pm by the time I get there.

But if it rains, I ain't going!

We are travelling on the day but hope not to be too late. Planning to be there in good time for both acts and get my position at the front.

No. But even if I did the prospect of driving four hours there and four hours back with a grumbling Mrs. ArrGee and kids would put me off. It has been bad enough stood in the rain in the past, but I never went that far from home, was on my own and always had my warm and cofy bed to go to. If the forecast is bad, I'll get refunds on the car hire and hotel.

I've had Rat fever for a very long time but the symptoms increase dramatically after seeing them play live. I'm becoming an addict.

I'll second that. Interesting little excursion slap bang under the city centre, unless you're prone to claustrophobia of course. There's also a pleasant redeveloped quay area which doubles up as the start of a riverside walk (can also hire bikes at quay) with a decent pub by the river about 2 miles (?) out of town.

I was aiming to arrive at Chagstock around lunchtime, assuming Rats on late evening. I drive right past the airport if you want a lift Noel? Should still get us to festival by 3pm. But if you'd rather hit town for the pm no problem. Might run out of Sunday options if you exhaust Exeter on arrival though. It's not massive...

I love archaeology and looking at old ruins,castles etc. Will not be flying back to Dublin until 7.50 on Sunday, so why not have a look around Exeters old buildings etc. Whatever you're into, as they say.

Will you be going to Chagstock Jamieuka, I remember you said you lived down Devon way?

Not sure exacly how I will get from Exeter airport to the gig. Taxi, possibly or there is a local bus service to places like Oakhampton, and the place I booked my hotel. Thanks for offer of lift, Suss, but don't wont to put pressure on you , and it's easy enough to get to the venue. Will let you know nearer the date.

I will have all of Sunday free until about 7pm so plenty of time to see Exeter. Will read up on those underground tunnels. Exeter was the furthest town west conquered by the Romans, fact fans.
