Well all love Tony Blair, right? Actually, we don't anymore, do we?I still love ya Tony It's sad and all, but, you know, we'll get over it!
Anyway, when Tony was at Oxford studying to be a lawyer - man of the people alert! - he was, rather famously, in a rock group called Ugly Rumours.
But what would Tony Blair: Rock Star have actually been like? Well, at 10pm on Thursday January 19 you'll get your chance to find out...
... Tony Blair: Rock Star is a new comedy that reconstructs the attempts of a teenage Tony Blair to make it big in the world of rawk.
Years before Tony took up residence in Downing Street, he had a dream - a dream filled with the deafening roar of adoring schoolgirls as he took to a strobe-lit stage as a proper rock god.
Based on interviews with people close to Blair as a young man, this film tells the true story of a frustrated rock star whose alternative career path ulitmately led him to the House of Commons.
Tony Blair: Rock Star charts his journey from naughty public schoolboy to lead singer in Ugly Rumours, and features previously unseen photos of Blair as a wannabe rock phenomenon.
From accomplished Mick Jagger mimic at Fettes Public School, where he styled his unruly hair with butter, to his days as a teenage band promoter, Blair is portrayed as fame-obsessed, someone who had no interest in politics but forever craved the limelight.
he's so desperate to smile but (in the words of jon culshaw)pointy finger, serious forehead.vital in politics.not a big fan of tele's more a strat gal but whatever floats your boat
just watched the programme and i was bizarre but quite amusing, despite the aweful acting which was completely based around his political speaking style not his casual way.tho very interesting insight and rather funny
