New Rats Album and new Geldof album in 2014?

Here's hoping! Geldof's solo albums tend to be more introspective/ inward looking and reflect what's personally happened to him (SAD in 2001 was a cathartic release of the Paula/Hutchence events, eg Inside Your Head, One for Me but How to Compose reflected a happier take on life - Here's to You etc) whereas the Rats stuff tends to be different and often reflects general observations on life/ third party events. A comparison in 2014 would indeed be very interesting.

Was reading through recent interview in Mojo and talking about the new songs Bob said something like ' I want to do more of this, but I have to be in the right headspace'. Wonder which is likely to see the light of day first, Rats lp or Geldof solo?

Weren't there still many leftover songs from How to Compose? Easily enough for another album. If he wants to use them, we might see those first.

No more Rats songs. The old stuff is fine. Let it lie, I don't want a ratsh!t Lp. Geldof can do what he likes. He can even have Simon, Garry et al play, but if the Ratlife ep is anything to go by, no thanks.

Battersea Morning is pretty weak in my opinion, psudo 60's tosh about riding a bike around Battersea. Yet he can write really good stuff like Blowfish, She's A lover, Mary Says,and Symtematic 6 Pack and Fields of Spring.

Seems quality control is Bob's biggest problem.

I liked Battersea Morning

. Loved the others too and my opinions changed of the other tracks after hearing several times. Once I'd heard Six Pack live it went up hugely for me. Here's to you will always be the best for me.

I believe there is other material that we don't know still knocking around.

As for new Rats stuff, if it is of Ratlife/Ratified standard no thanks. Kudos to them though for experimenting with different sounds. Sometimes it works, others it doesn't.

The thing about Geldof. In my opinion is that there is no in between with him. He writes great songs or Sh?t one's. I too heard that he had a lot of left over songs from the (That will sell Cd). Point being here if this was the best of them that made the record, would you want to hear the rest?

Vince said the stuff that was left off was better than those put on. It's only his opinion though.

Let's hope Vince is right. But I don't get this, surely you would put or use the strongest of the songs to run with a good album. Here don't get me wrong here some nice wee songs on that last cd As so have the one's B4 this. I do think bob is a very good song writer and I do like most of what he has put out to date. I go for the likes of warmest fire, sweat for you, things like that which are b side's
