Agree. Always was questionable. Didn't they make a 6 yr old cry once with a stupid competition? Not a massive Chris Evans fan either. Overpaid,  petulant big head at the time,  bit better now.

When you think geldof helped Evans career take off with big breakfast(planet 24 ) he had Bob on his radio show a few months back and seemed quite patronising

Bob often appears on his show, as far as I can gather. He talks about him as being his old boss.

Can't say ever really been a fan of his. I remember him in the early days in Don't forget your toothbrush? Anyone remember it!? His head was much less inflated back then. Didn't watch the Big Breakfast. I like my news a bit more serious. . I've never watched TFI...

I do recall Toothbrush and as you suggest, this was before he got too big for his own boots. He used to do a Sunday Radio One lunchtime show around this time which was quite good. Unfortunately, he became full of his own self-importance and regarded his breakfast show as optional and then put in for flexible hours (wasn't it one day off a week?).

The silly conceited chip inside his head got switched to overload.

Only a Rats fan can truly appreciate this. Indeed, brilliant.

I haven't watched the new TFI, so I have to reserve comment until I do but it was a superb programme and Chris Evans has been a great DJ and TV presenter down the years. A lot fcuking better than TOTP and its paedo DJs.

Always had a least a couple of good bands which would have been two more than the average TOTP at the time.

They should bring TFI back permanently along with The Word (I'm sure you all hated that as well).  They knew how to make proper TV back in the 1990s.

Never said I hated it, just that the original show was at times questionable. I don't think repeated use of the F word courtesy of Shaun Ryder is good practice at 6/7pm on a Friday. Not sure why you are calling for the return of it when you haven't watched last night's.

Apart from the Top Gear audition and the Snoozes Hamilton interview dragging on ad infinitum (so glad I have Tivo fast forward), I thought it was pretty good.    I reckon they should have had Shaun Ryder do a turn for old times sake.

Yes, the TFI Friday-does-Top-Gear special. My view is this; if you have Shaun Ryder, Liam Gallagher and Roger Daltrey in the studiowhy would you have an extended interview and feature with Lewis Hamilton? Dont get me wrong, he was ok although there's a touch of Joey Essex about him and I enjoyed watching him being interviewed but it is TFI Friday, and there is so much more they could have done that original fans would have appreciated. For those who are not car enthusiasts, like myself, it dragged on a little too long.

Chris Evans proving his self indulgent credentials is nothing new so it was no surprise to see every generation of his family featured at some point.
