Cool, Suss and I are going, so we can have a party!  I see it is sold out, so hopefully you already have a ticket....

Planning to be at THE ANGEL (pub) at about 7pm.

Sadly, I seem to have got one of those yuletide colds that I tried to avoid by staying in this week.   Think I will avoid the after gig party.

PS As it is swinging London, it is going to be an early 10.30pm curfew.

Probably see you in the pub, then! Quite glad of the early curfew, getting back to my neck of the woods on a Sunday night is a bit of a trial.

I quite like them, wasn't too impressed with them at Butlins. Left half way through.

First time seeing them last night, loved it, they sound great, though I can't gets soddin' Happy Talk out of my head this morning. Cheers, Captain. Planning to do the full weekend at Rebellion next year after the Rats pulled me in this summer, will see what their festival set is like...

The funny thing is he never actually does it, he just threatens to, but the mood was so good last night he just did his impromptu a capella.  The set list was near perfect, only Ballroom Blitz and Generals could have improved it.   Islington O2 was a very good venue.  Brilliant view from the bar!

Can't wait for the 40th anniversary gig at The Royal Albert Hall.  I wonder if Paul (I Just Can't Be Happy Today) Weller will turn up

Really good venue, will be keeping an eye on it from now on.

I know she didn't do anything bar a bit of cartoon waving, but still so excited to see Gaye Advert rock up.

How come? Butlins set was as good as any time I've seen them.

Last night was probably pick of the bunch though...all the songs one could reasonably expect (still live in hope of getting Melody Lee live one of these days), well paced across the set, excellent sound in a great little(ish) venue and to top it off good company from fellow forum folk.

Partly because I was saving energy for the Rats the next day, but maybe I just don't like them as much as I thought. They were OK.

I think my two fav Damned songs are Wait for the Blackout and I Just Can't Be Happy Today. New Rose is, without doubt, one of the top punk singles from that era. Smash It Up is great too.

Captain Sensible did a 'Damned on 45' single too, splicing all their hits together in a 'stars on 45' parody.

You would have enjoyed last night then

Opened with Waiting for the Blackout, included Just Can't be Happy Today in a 'Machine Gun Etiquette' spell mid set, complete with Weller jibes alluded to above (and a theme of the set as it transpired), and did a sensational New Rose as part of the encore, with Dave Vanian down in the pit getting a fan to ask 'the' question that triggers the song. Played out with Smash it Up, complete with part 1 which I love

Really was a great gig to finish 2015 with.

Damned hate Weller? Nothing like punks dissing each other. That's why it's better to claim to never have been a punk band.smile

I also love Buzz****s Everybody's Happy Nowadays. Maybe I need to see a psychiatrist?

Not sure they hate him as such.  It was the strange "Sensible's A W@nker" chant that started it [Not sure why people think that, I think he is a really decent bloke with a good self deprecating sense of humour], and The Captain commented that they wouldn't be saying that about Weller which led to "Weller Is A W@nker" from certain audience members (like me!).  And then Dave Vanian dedicated I Just Can't Be Happy Today to him.  There was another Weller jibe or two after that, but more funny than vicious.

Definitely one of the best gigs of the year.  Only bettered by Royal Blood at KoKo for me.
