Anyone been to the cinemas lately for a good movie? Recently I've seen the new  version of Macbeth with Michael Fassbender. And last week I went to see The Martian(in 2D)

Both were very good. Next up  is the new Guillermo Del Toro film Crimson Peak, which promises to be a classic.

I haven't seen a great new movie for a few years now.  I did dig out the Ian McKellen/Judi Dench Macbeth at the weekend cos ArrGee Jr. is studying it for GCSE, but ended up watching The Theory of Everything which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Watched The Imitation Game the weekend before, so there is a theme of watching oscar nominated ex-public schoolboys playing English genius scientists...

... more often than not these days our film choice is limited by what is available on Now TV and Amazon Prime that is a 12 certificate or less.  I think the last movie I saw at the cinema was Les Miserables.  Which for a musical was pretty good, though you did need ear plugs when Russell Crowe started singing.

I've not visited a cinema since 2004, despite the fact we have a multiplex within walking distance. The cinema had just been built at that point. We tend to watch at home, but nothing notable recently.

The last one I went to see was Lord of the Rings. I fell asleep. .

Hardly ever go to the cinema anymore, last really good thing I saw was The Ecstasy of Wilko Johnson (he's talking at the 100 Club this Thursday, quietly excited), deeply weird in parts but really, for want of a better word, powerful.

Looking forward to seeing Suffragette at some point, and The Lady In Van when that comes out next month.
