Bob has come in at no.1 of celebrities most likely to influence public opinion. No great surprise.

Bob Geldof (57 per cent), Jamie Oliver (49 per cent) and Tony Blair (40 per cent) came top of the league of those in the public eye who have the greatest ability to influence public opinion

Bob would probably prefer that the public listened to his music!

Still, I'm sure he's glad they are listening to him, and it's certainly good news for his causes that they value his opinion.

The definition of 'celebrity' has been significantly redefined in the last few years. You must have noticed!

From the man himself:

I think it's more a phenomenon of the celebritisation of politics than the politicisation of celebrity. It's not as if pop stars suddenly became politicians. Dylan, Jagger, Lennon always wrote political-type songs, and quite adroitly, you know. It's that we've become confused, with mass media, about what politicians are. Politicians started dragging their wives and children on to cameras because we demanded it. We wanted to know more about them. So they've become confused about whether they're leaders or celebrities, whereas the celebrities are quite clear that they just want to get on the stage with a guitar, and, well - shag, to go back to the beginning of the interview.
