Help make Midge Ure a "Sir"

Can I draw your attention to this online petition at 10 Downing Street to make Midge Ure  a "Sir". The forgotten man of Band Aid and Live Aid. He has continued his charity work quietly for the last 20 years. I was about to start a petition, but someone beat me to it. You have to be a British citizen to do this.
Only fair, Sir Bob, Sir Paul and we want Sir James too.

I emailed the PM's office about this and got the following reply from the Cabinet Office.
"Dear Mrs Clayton
Your email of 30 August to the Prime Minister nominating Mr James (Midge) Ure OBE for a higher award has been forwarded to this office as the Ceremonial Secretariat in the Cabinet Office is responsible for the administration of the Honours system.
As Mr Ure received his OBE such a short time ago in the Birthday 2005 Honours List, it is unlikely that he would be considered for a higher award in the near future. There is usually a gap of five years between awards. I will, however make sure that your suggestion of a Knighthood is considered."

Maybe 2010?

How long was Bob waiting for between his awards?

He went straight to an honourary "Sir". Non British citizens can't be awarded OBEs and CBEs (I don't think so anyway)

Now you mention it I think you are right. I remember reading something to that effect somewhere.
