By the looks of it...I am joining this forum at ground level...
Does anyone currently already here, know about the history of this forum board...or is it a new feature to this site?
I will briefly explain, why I found my way here...
It all started several months ago...seems it was November...I happened to be browsing around at a local music store, when I noticed a dvd in the dvd section titled "Live Aid"...I thought to myself, that was like 20 years ago...but I have never once forgot that day over the last 20 years...I remember the day well, I was home visiting family, and my stepfather was giving me crap about wanting to occupy my time that day with several hours in front of the tube...so I could witness history unfolding...and a magical historical event it was...
I don't remember exactly how much I pledged that day by phone...but I remember thinking that even though my gift was small...it was the effort and the compassion of my effort that rang home the message to my stepfather...he could see how urgent I felt about this horrorific situation that was occuring in Sudan and Ethiopia(s/p?) in Africa...and how much it meant to me regardless of how small the donation...
Fast forward...today...just last night I finished a marathon weekend of trying resolve all the constant nags of everyday life to make time to watch the 10-hour plus Live Aid DVD set...and upon finishing this effort in the early a.m. hours this morning...I realized that this is something especially remarkable...what Bob Geldof and many others produced was a testimony to the urgency of our times...even yet today...
I spend alot of my time these days...wanting to be as productive with my time as possible...I am currently trying to form a band...and I strongly desire a more responsive world when it comes to speaking up about the injustices that wreak havoc across the planet on any given day...
I hope to continue with dialogue here with some of you in the coming days, weeks , and months...and I want to thank Bob Geldof and the Band Aid Trust for continuing their work to address the problems of poverty and hunger...let's continue to carry the torch..."Feed the World."
