Squeezing in another gig this week! This time it's Chris Difford so will be interesting to see which old songs he does - hopefully he won't have a beard .......
He's playing at a really great venue in Winchester - The Railway - which interestingly used to be a brothel (or so I'm told!)
Chris Difford gig was absolutely brilliant - would definitely go to see him again. Just him playing guitar, singing and with a very good female backing singer and with him telling interesting stories about past and present - excellent raconteur. Played some of the old hits but his "new" stuff was also great. Very engaging to see and a totally cool guy - and he didn't have a beard!
Saw Van Morrison a couple of weeks ago and we got him on a good night! Also booked Bob (7 year wait for a solo Irish tour has been too long!!!!!) for May, Tom Petty in June and Roxette, Bruce Springsteen and Madonna in July. I know Madge won't be singing live but she does put on a good show and she is the favourite artist of my friend who I'm going with and I'd never be forgiven if I didn't go too! Roxette are a nostalgia concert as they were the soundtrack to the summer of 1992 when I worked picking blueberries, my first ever job and in the shed where we did the weighing we only had 2 tapes (remember those) one was Roxette's greatest hits and the other was a Richard Marx single lol Have always wanted to see Tom Petty in concert so can't wait for that. For those who know me neither Bob or Brucie need any explanation as to why I am going As they say BRING ON THE MUSIC

...now Coldplay in December, luckily I got a couple of tickets on the pre-sale. Back on sale tomorrow (Friday) at 9.30am. And it's the most I have ever paid for a pair of tickets. Over £107!! (£53.50 each)
Ended up missing this, but I should see pretty much almost all my favorite bands in the last 35 years in next few months. Pulp, Happy Mondays, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Specials, New Order and The Rats. Short of any additional reformations that is. But as resurrections are out of the question, there aren't too many more bands that can reform.

Apart from the various Rats gigs, I have Muse at Highbury, Elvis Costello at RAH and Stone Roses at Finsbury Park.
Then I think I will stop until Pulp turn up again.

Well I guess I'll go and see that Ratified band once or twice. If I was a canny promoter, I'd try and get Johnny Marr who supported the Roses to go and play The Smiths for a couple of hours. Judging by the reaction at Finsbury Park, it would be massive. And should Elvis Costello turn up in your town, don't miss it. Superb show.

As Pulp aren't coming back, I have Arcade Fire - Earls' Court, Franz Ferdinand - Somerset House, McAlmont & Butler - Union Chapel/Islington Assembly Hall (maybe) and James at Electric Ballroom. Still to get my Rats ticket. Tring looks most likely, but I'm going to see what the weather is like.
