1. INTRODUCTION In Uganda today and endeed worldwide there is a great number of people with congenital Heart Defects and Deformities due to natural circumstances, and in some cases behaviors, Influences like smoking and drug abuse etc.
Worldwide 31.4% of children are born with heart defects, in Uganda the figure is about 20%, however due to lack of facilities and reporting habits in Uganda that figure should be regarded as minimum.
2. MISSION i) Healthy Heart Project –Uganda is to highlight the plight of adults and children affects by heart deformities. The project is to formulate and implement a noble task of spearheading a mission of education. The masses of the presence symptoms, testing, treatment and post surgery treatment and care of the victims and their families.
ii) To solicit and rise funds for implementation of the project.
iii) To gather information, guidelines and requirements for the proper heart deformity treatments and care of the victims both locally and internationally.
iv) To coordinate information relevant.
V) To hobby and interest various development partners institutions, establishments and the private sector for environment and more consideration of the heart deformity causes and effects plus treatment and support of the victims/
vi) Opening p and setting of an office to provide a home for the project also a point of contact.
3. IMPLEMENTATION The project is to publish the relevant and necessary information and education in free booklets to be distributed basically in hospitals and schools, the local government structure, the ministry of health, individuals etc.
ii) Make announcements and advertisements through the newspapers and the electronic media e.g. Radio, Television, and the worldwide web.
iii) Mobilizing seminars and conferences for education, sensitization, evaluations, demonstrations etc, of the project is objectives and implementation . iv) To evolve the homestead and village participation through person to person contact and through the local government structure from local council five to. v. Influence the government policy, for example in its policy formation, establishment of testing for heart deformities, particularly in the maternity clinics should be given a priority or necessary attention. vi. Opening up of a Bank Account for deposits of the acquired funds, and to enable proper accountability for the funds. vii. Acquisition of Tele communication facilities for easy contact and coordination & telephone, computer for e mails and inter-net facilitation. viii. Auditing and reviewing of the project funds and progress. 4. ADMINISTRATION There shall be the following posts. · Board. of Directors · The Patron · The Project Director · The Project Co-Auditor · The Project Secretary · Accountant · Receptionist · The Project Medial Consultant · Volunteers Other posts may be created as need arises. Some of the posts may be on contract, permanent or semi- Permanent posts. 5. MEMBERSHIP : i) For the victims served by the project membership is automatic. ii) Individuals may join through an agreed terms and conditions. iii) Associations, establishments, organizations missions etc, may join or associate with the project in various forms, terms and conditions will always be negotiated accordingly vi) To be appointed on the Board of Directors one will have to contribute a subscribed fee to the project committee himself to the objections of the project, be willing to attend to the project’s deliberations wherever called up on. For example attending on annual board of Directors meeting.
6. PLAN OF ACTION i) For purposes of making the project physically operational; it is hereby declared The two founding persons……………………………………………………………… Rashid Ssewagudde becomes the first Director of Healthy Heart Project –Uganda and Mugerwa Emmy it’s first project coordinator and the two of them do hereby declare to commitment to the provisions of this project with due deliverance.
