Thanks Scottie. Not sure that came across from the original.

Got me thinking of 'Allo 'Allo and coded messages like 'the brown cow will fly at dawn' , or maybe Stop the Pigeon where Dick Dastardly asks Zilly 'whadhe say? whadhe say?' whenever Clunk had a new invention smile

I'm a bit confused about this.  Is it a show on Tamworth radio?  Is it a internet radio station?

Thread title reminded me of a potential Mastermind specialist subject "Geldof" question....

Which film features Room 19 in its soundtrack??

Would be good if someone answered without recourse to the web, but we'll never know if you have looked it up.

No clues, yet, other than to say the film in question is the last place you'd expect to hear it. Maybe the director or someone connected is a fan.

How's the hangover.smile.gif I had to look  up the answer and honestly did not know beforehand, but you learn something new everyday I guess.

Maybe one clue could be that this film originated in a country featured in one of the song titles of Geldof's 1993 album The Happy Club.

Looks like I'm in danger of getting a reputation cry. I prefer to put it down to euphoria of gig and being amongst like minded souls, and those plastic cups holding more red wine than you think.

As for film, another clue is that having two teenage sons who fall about at gross and puerile humour will enhance your chances of seeing it. We've had it on DVD for a good while - still can't see any relevance to the song or vice versa.

Speaking of alcohol the 'bar' at the IAH wasn't really up to much. £4 for a can of lukewarm Guinness so I just had two cans and saved myself the hangover.

In my defence I'd have been ok if all those who said "H&A at 5pm" had actually made it, or even any! Nick was first in at just before 6pm.

Didn't have much else to do except drink for the first hour...so I blame you lot wink.

We were waiting for Derek in a restaurant and he couldn't find us. Then the waiters decided to wind us up and not take our order because we wouldn't order until Derek arrived . Sorry for making you drink lol.

I got to London on time but had to get something to eat, then was delayed for ages at Euston Station with incredible long queues at the ticket machines due to the Diamond Jubilee. Then had to check into hotel  and 'fight' my way through the various crowds on the tube and steet! London =stress. I suspect most of the others were out of towners too and had their own delay stories.

Next time there is some Geldof or Rats action in London I hopefully will stay a few days and make a mini break of it rather than just being there for half a day.

Just need Joan of Arc to mention the dog eating her ticket and Scottie lamenting the wrong type of rain on the tracks and we'll have the full set biggrin.

Noel, if you do venture back (and sincerely hope you do despite the lukewarm review) I'd highly recommend a travelcard, which you would have been able to get at Tufnell Park and then not worry/queue anywhere else (plus save a fair bit).

Ok, I accept that my sub 60 minute journey from South Croydon straight to the pub in order to be on time (smile) was asking for trouble. Clearly I'd have benefitted from some grub en route. Never did end up eating on Friday night.

Apologies to IanG who's now wondering how his Room19 thread descended into a discussion about London travel and the merits of lining the stomach.

I arrived by train into Euston and got a one day travel card for £7 which covered all my travel needs in London for that day. It was the initial queue  at Euston to get the one day travel card that was the problem.

My basic conclusions about the gig were: Good to see Geldof in the flesh, as it were. I prefer listening to albums/cd's to live gigs for loads of reasons I wont go into here. Not too keen of Bobs band except for Bob and Pete. If I want to hear The Boomtown Rats I find listening to the old records or cd's better than hearing Geldof and his current band playing the songs live in concert.

I wasn't necessarily disappointed- it was more or less what I expected. Trying to fit in all aspects of a career into 90 minutes, happy songs , sad songs, Rats songs, solo songs. Just watching him closely and trying to figure out what was going on in his head from his stage persona was in itself interesting. Anyway the records are always there to listen to, when I can choose my own favourite songs. I also get the impression that Geldof was a bit shattered from all the touring. He is sixty, not thirty so I presume it takes its toll.

Who knows his next album might be totally brilliant.
