My older brother got A Tonic For The Troops free with a Hot Press subscription back in 1978, recalled E. OConnor. We just played it like crazy. This was the sound of Ireland and the world as we knew it in 78. I still play it today the songs are great and it brings back memories of a simpler time.

Simpler times indeed.

What I had not really consciously acknowledged before is that Lets Spend The Night Together from the Stones is in there, but of course it is. One of the first things that hit and hooked me was the pull from the Shangri La's which was perhaps more obvious. A fabulous track and a fabulous album indeed. Thanks for highlighting the article A.
