I'd be quite happy if I Don't Like Mondays was dropped altogether, but I'm certain they will do that one way or another ahead of absolutely everything else.

I think the three most likely songs to come in currently not on the Rats current set list are Dave, Banana Republic and When The Night Comes.  The first two shouldn't present too many issues, especially if Banana Republic is abridged, but having heard the solo When The Night Comes, I'm not sure how they would do it.  And there are better songs, especially Eva Braun, they would be better off working on in the next four or five months.

Same question got asked on FB (Bob Geldof fan page) so to be consistent:- 

 Mary, Neon Heart, Close as you'll ever be, Someone's Looking, Joey, Diamond Smiles, Living in An Island (especially for IOW), Eva Braun, Clockwork, Mondays, Dave, Banana Republic, Looking After No 1, Do You In, She's So Modern, Rat Trap - should fill the hour or so very nicely. Bet they play When the Night Comes though...

Conscious this is close to what recent Rats play, but tried to do a realistic 'dream' set, accepting needs to be mainly hits and limited on time. My true dream set would last about 4 hours. Somewhere in between would include Blind Date, Howard Hughes, I Can Make It, Hurt Hurts, Europe Looked Ugly and Do The Rat

Sounds about right, pretty much mine rehashed. My Blues Away is a good call. We've seen it listed on Garry/Simon sets but yet to be aired.

Take your point about fact versus fantasy; no need to call me a poxy moron though!

Lets start with Reunited by Peaches and Herb and then Back Together Again by Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway.

But seriously.....Almost any track from the first two albums get the spirit of the Rats in their prime and would go down really well live. Other tracks that currently appeal are Someones Looking At You, Elephant's Graveyard, A Hold of Me, Late Last Night, Real Different, Europe Looked Ugly, Never In A Million Years, Diamond Smiles. Straight Up from Mondo Bongo I've always loved. Hard Times from In The Long Grass is another great album track, as is Over and Over.

A Second Time was my favourite from the demo tracks and has a strong emotional appear- Great Geldof vocals.

Not sure about ArrGee's medley. What the point of singing bits of songs? A song is either worth singing in full,  or it's not. In fact overall I'm not too fussy about what they play. The fact that The Boomtown Rats are back together is just mindblowing. Hopefully once they are all happy to perform together occasionally then we have a lot to look forward to. Worrying too much about a set list seems a bit silly.

ps Ideally the will release a new single which will get to number one, and that can go on the list as well!

 I don't think anyone is disputing that reunion is manna from heaven, but I'd be more than a little disappointed if they opened with Charmed Lives, did a 10 minute Little Death and finished with Another Piece of Red. None of us wants it to be a damp squib experience.

Part of that is hypothesising what would constitute your dream set, summing up Rats at their best, which has proved interesting for me at least. Does show how much faith many have in some of the later tracks. I'd never want Fall Down at expense of certain other songs for example.

The good thing which may or may not have been noted on latest rush of threads is that composition of band is a reflection of the first few years, so theoretically any song is possible, although I think they'll stick with guitar (Darren) where sax was, partly because he's used to doing it (and bloody good at it) and partly because I think new Rats will want it to be predominantly guitar based set.

I think it would be a very smart move.  No ammunition for those who say they are one-hit wonders.  Even Mrs. Arrgee has asked on occassion is that the only song Geldof ever does when he is on TV.  It probably is.  To be honest, if I never hear it again I wouldn't be too upset.

However, I think it is more likely it gets done twice (new and old version) and then reprised with Bon Jovi.
