Just had a call from Ticketmaster, Auckland May 25 concert cancelled, now all the rigmarole of reimbursements, hotel booking etc to cancel - Thank you Bob! I now have learnt my lesson regarding aging rockers - Meatloaf pulled out while we were waiting in the queue to get into the stadium!!

That wasn't in Birmingham the Meatloaf cancelled on you was it? Same happened to us. I've learned my lesson to at least take a few days when travelling abroad so that I just waste money on going there and flying straight back and get a few days break.

Commiserations Solar, if the gig was cancelled due to poor ticket sales (most likely) then it's hard to know what to due. In true punk fashion they could change the venue to a smaller, more suitable one, and if a hundred people turn up then well and good. Trying to fill large stadia in Oz and NZ does not make sense to me- why not downsize to small rock club type vunues that  have catered for alternative rock acts over the years?

I'm sure there are some smaller vunues in Auckland that would suit the Rats and a good NZ band like Straighjacktet Fits or The Chills or The Church as support or Rats supporting the aforementioned.

They have added a date nearer to home, the Seenland Festival in Germany on Sunday 7 July (just after the Cork gig). Festival lineups are a safer bet, as it does not depend on just one act.

Hi guys,

The latest is:

"Customers who have purchased tickets to the Auckland show are invited to take-up a special VIP package offer for the Sydney Show. "

May 23rd - Sydney Enmore Theatre, Sydney, Australia
May 25th - Challange Stadium, Perth, Australia

Are they also going to pay for flights and hotels?  What about those at the other Oz dates cancelled? Does it apply to them too.

Again the promoter on the Brisbane website says it is due to 'unforseen circumstances'. Is this 'musicbizspeak' for low ticket sales? I've no idea but I guess they get an idea of ticket uptake pretty soon, and if it's sluggish for a few weeks after the shows are announced then things are unlikely to radically improve.

Some gigs sell out in 5 minutes.Hope the Cork and Devon gigs are ok. Devon should be as it's a festival with a good track record. Iow is safe as milk, probably.
