Thought there was more than 2000 in there,that's a great attendance,lets hope I get those Dublin tickets..

Mr Aiken said he already had a couple of acts booked for next year, but was remaining tight-lipped on who they were.

He said he thought one of the most successful concerts this year was The Boomtown Rats.

I didnt really know how it was going to go because its 30 years on from their big hits, but it went great. There were 4,200 tickets sold for it and the atmosphere was electric. Geldof was brilliant and the band were good, too, and the crowd were brilliant, Mr Aiken said.

Ads running today on RTE Radio 1 promoting the October gigs in Dublin. Anyone intending to go would be well advised to get their tickets early. Have made the decision to only go to one of the Dublin gigs, most likely Saturday night. Prefer to go to London and see them at the Roundhouse with remaining cash!

Don't see why Mr Aiken would lie about ticket sales. These guys are hard headed businessmen. I certainly thought there was a huge crowd there, and had a good walk around the whole complex before the gig to gauge the size of the crowd.

Again Cork is a pretty small city compared with Dublin, so there should be no problem with selling both nights.

If they sell out quickly that will make my decision easier. Like Cork, it's going to be a late decision, so if the Sold Out signs are up, I'll just pass. I made a fleeting reference to the gigs to Mrs. ArrGee the other night and didn't get the usual discouragement of "Haven't you just seen them at the weekend?".

Why do you think he might have been? Floor looked similar size to Brixton and that holds 4,000 downstairs, so the numbers are credible.

Well ticket sales won't be in the same league as U2 (I.e. the whole website crashes under the overload) and I got tickets for them. :-/. 9 am at work tomorrow I'm disappearing to the bathroom, me thinks.

The have to sell 75% of the total Cork sales, approx, to a city/region ten times the population of cork. Also take in the 'home town factor', well Dun Laoghaire is an independent borough, but hey, and you have the recipe for a sell out.

The tented venue was fine, only the area underfoot seemed a bit rough- like a car park or something. Yes I understand the 'haven't you just seen them?' factor. One thing about travelling to 'away' gigs is the different cities and locations that one encounters- makes up a bit for the sense of the music is basically going to be the same. One Dublin night is enough for me, I've just bought my ticket for the Roundhouse today.
