Just looked on Amazon.co.uk and it looks like all 6 albums will be released as a box set in October.Wonder if anything "new" will turn up on these.

I doubt it myself - just a good time to cash in on the tour by putting all the reissues into one box. Great price though.

Would be great if it was a variation - some of the unobtainable (on CD) b-sides included maybe, but re-packaging the prev will cost more than the yield probably. I'm putting my money on it being the reissues in one box. Perhaps with updated sleeve notes?

A collector box of the 6 on vinyl with original inner sleeves etc would be good to have.

It could be the original albums, with absolutely no buggering around with track order.  I'd go for that. But not the remasters.  I already have two copies.

Style Council had one recently which was quite good with cardboard covers

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Album-Selection-Style-Council/dp/B00CTJPEJM/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1377974094&sr=1-1&keywords=Classic+Album+Selection

A vinyl collectors box would be lovely, but having just shelled out £130 for the suede one, my credit card could get maxed out very soon.

Nice write-up by BP Fallon

Wonder what is meant by 'attendant bonus material'?  Hope it's of the recorded variety.

If you ordered on Amazon, it is an AutoRip, so you get ALL the mp3s included and will have them available from midnight, a day or two before the box arrives.

All the albums all present and correct on my Kindle Fire this morning.  I started off with the box set was really enjoying them, and then remembered to download the Ratsh!t EP no

I'm going back to listen to Don't Believe What You Read again, now that's what I call music.

Ah, my faith is restored!   I can just forget about the Ratsh!t EP.  Maybe it's not really The Boomtown Rats.

I think it's a shame that these weren't the original albums with the original running order. Also it would have been better if the sleeves weren't gatefolds and ideally had replicas of the original inner sleeves. Still with the same issues as the remasters such as the wobbly start of I Can Make It If You Can and Gerry Cott pictured in V Deep.

But the big upside was getting all the Rats songs on mp3 via AutoRip for just over a tenner.

If only the Rats would do a Past Masters album that gathered all the other B-sides and omitted tracks (like House Burned Down)

I don't suppose it will ever happen, but an album of the original single mixes including B-sides would be superb.  I don't think the reprise of the first verse in Mondays does anything for the song, the abridged middle sections of Clockwork and Someone's Looking make the songs sharper, Banana Republic is best in its 7" version, as is House on Fire and even the lyric amendment of Rat Trap which I prefer, even if others like the pus and grime should be available.

But I guess, it was more prudent to take the last set of remasters from eight years ago.  I don't imagine most people bar pedants like myself would be that worried. Of course if you have the time and patience you can get all of this by ripping your vinyl, or just taking the soundtrack off the Someone's Looking DVD.

House on Fire & Banana Republic much better in single edit, so too is Mondays.

Disagree on SLAY, Clockwork - think better enlongated. Same goes for Graveyard, Drag me Down, Back to Boomtown.

House on Fire fades far too early in album format. Love the way repeating brassline changes key every so often towards the end of the single edit.

Regardless of how good or bad they are, it would be good to have all the proper single mixes.  And the b-sides.  But I won't hold my breath.

Word of warning - this 'promo' is nothing more than the 'classicrat****s' compilation relabelled. It doesn't contain the last 3 tracks listed, but seller is not highlighting that, merely that it's a 'mispressing' that has 16 tracks and not 10.

Fine if you want the hits compilation in disguise, but if not then I'd say there's a strong case for no quibbles refund.

Agreed. At that price you can't really go wrong, but having the 2 new tracks on a 'promo' for a box set that doesn't include them at all just seems wrong to me. Either extremely lazy PR or possibly a scam disc.

Either way the hits compilation at < £4 is not worth arguing over.

Does the boxset include the liner notes with each album that came with the 2005 remasters?

The 2005 Remasters had some nice photos and notes

I'm not sure if they did as I did not buy the 6 album box set. I presume they included the same liner notes and artwork, though I'm not certain. Whatever spare cash I had I spend on going to see them in London and Birmingham,as well as both Dublin gigs and Chagstock in Devon.

That meant that I did not buy any of the live cd's of the concerts . I can always catch up with them later, but seeing the band live was more important.

No.  If you have the original remasters, then there isn't anything you haven't got there.  Well, except the box.  There are photos in the open gatefold, but not that great with a big wide white line of paper.

Great value if you don't have the remasters, but if I hadn't got all the MP3s with Amazon Auto Rip it would have been a waste.
