Agreed, thanks for sharing. Probably true that anyone signed up to this forum will admit to band having more than just a simple musical/lyrical appreciation impact on their lives.

I certainly link songs and gigs with times in mine, almost as a subconscious means of measuring time.

My dad always shook his head in bewilderment too by the way.

I had the same poster on my wall. Lasting memories for you. Around 1984 I asked my then girlfriend if she thought any were good looking. She thought all of them looked rough and none stood out. When pressed she thought Simon was "ok".

All my other mates had Debbie Harry or that girl lifting her skirt whilst playing tennis on their walls.

I had Debbie Harry on my ceiling. Just above the bed

I had a fair number of posters that seemed to change on fairly frequent basis. Mostly gig posters that I'd take on the way out.

I had that one too!!. Plus Mondo Bongo hairdresser style posters that came with the record. I also took gig flyers. The V Deep and 1983 tour spring to mind.

My room was covered in posters. I shared a room with my brother. My half was covered in Boomtown Rats, Clash and Stiff Little Fingers. I had to fight for space with Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Great story manatthetop.Strange enough I never had any posters when I was young,cannot remember why though.I remember driving my family nuts on christmas day 1978 when I got ATFTT.It was the start of an amazing journey which continues today.

Have to agree with you here Suss. To me the Rat's were more than just a band, they seemed to be my life growing up and. Which has been pointed out b4 by other's, each song did seem to fit into what was ever happening to me at the time. Just shows you how tuned in Geldof and his merry men were. Even to this day if I am pissed of about something the Rat's songs go on and everything seem to be back to normal. don't know about any of yous But over the years b by family would tend to say how can you listen to the same songs over and over again in all these years. Well 1 is because I can 2 to me they are just timeless 3 I just love there sound and the words. That's why I hate people that took the piss out of them In my opinion they wouldn't know a good group if it hit them up the face I used to get But the Rat's really, Geldof really. And I would just say. And why not sit down and listen properly to this band then come back and tell me. I used to think I was the only Rat's fan left in Ireland How wrong I was. I was going on 14 in sept 77 when this band walked into my life I am now 50 and still love this wee band. I think they are the best band to come out of Ireland. EVER.

I don't know why my parents even bothered papering my bedroom walls, they were covered from floor to ceiling with Boomtown Rats posters.

Their lyrics spoke volumes to us back that, us struggling teenagers. They were about how life was. I remember listening to Rat Trap at 14 and thinking this will be my working life ahead. Not so wrong at all. They meant so much to me, that it has never gone away, as you all know. I can see I'm not alone

Totally agree with you. This was the poster I had on my bedroom wall my dad would shake his head at Still have after all the years that's gone by. Put's a wee smile on my face when I think about it.
