Just saw that on the BBC News website. He was only 56 which is quite young. Tom Verlaine of Television died very recently too. Last year Chris Bailey of The Saints. Garry from The Rats took me by surprise and honestly I think they might pack it in. It just wont be the same so not much appeal for me in going to see Bob ,Pete and Simon.
I know Scott Walker passed away a few years ago now but I've lately enjoyed listening to some online interviews with him. Comes across as a really nice guy, very intelligent and certainly not arrogant. Cliche but they all live on in their music I suppose.

They have a few dates planned this summer. Could be their swansong. And that is true of both The Boomtown Rats and Pulp.
I remember in 2012 when much the same thing happened with Pulp playing their last gig on land in Sheffield (though never knew that at the time) and The Bradbury Rats pretty much ending in Dublin. I went to Dublin on the basis the Rats would probably never play a headline gig again
this summer, I will be seeing Pulp. The Boomtown Rats less likely as it stands. Partly, because Garry wont be there, but also I have seen them umpteen times in the last ten years and whilst I have enjoyed it very much, I dont have the enthusiasm to see them play an abridged set at a Lets Rock festival. Of course, should Butlins suddenly resurrect the Great British Alternative Festival and The Boomtown Rats play, I will go.
Steve Mackey must have been ill for quite a while as he wasnt going to be part of the 2023 tour when it was announced a few months ago. Wasnt too sure about seeing Pulp without him when it was announced, but a friend persuaded me. Glad I am going after all.
Great photo. I've seen the Rats umpteen times too so pretty satisfied on that front. Maybe a series of swansong dates with Gerry Cott and Fingers on board would be the ideal way to bow out ie with a bang not a whimper. It certainly would be the best tribute to Garry but it unlikely to happen unfortunately. Good luck to the Gooners for rest of season. Really be great if they could pull off Premier League win, just have the feeling City will pip them at the post!

Agree, neither Gerry Cott nor Johnnie Fingers would join in. Might be one or two more headline gigs, but after the last tour that was abandoned, with just the Palladium date surviving, I doubt that.
As for Arsenal, they will win the league (I hope). And Orient definitely will. My other teams (London GAA, London Irish and Clare GAA) maybe not. Was in Dublin at the weekend to witness Clare throw away a 6 point lead at Croke Park, and lose to Dublin with the last fist of the game. Still at least Tipperary won the hurling, so my wife was happy.
